High visibility vests: soon checks

High visibility vests are mandatory to take school transport from the Lannion-Trégor community but too few middle schools and high school students wear them.

Lannion-Trégor community (LTC) returns to the charge to encourage middle and high school students to wear the high visibility vest “throughout the journey, from home to school and back.” The community equipped 3,550 students with them a year ago, but it is clear that those who are reluctant to wear the orange reflective vest are much more numerous than the good students.

The vest, intended to save lives, is, however, “compulsory for college and high school students, as well as the school subscription card, of which it is inseparable”, recalls LTC.

A letter to families

In addition to providing information to all users, awareness-raising actions were to begin on Thursday, November 5, 2020 “but given the current health context, these interventions are postponed to January and February 2021. Ten colleges in the territory wished to join this device”.

LTC is already warning that its Transport department will carry out “checks at stops or at the arrival of coaches in establishments to check that the child has his subscription card and is wearing his high visibility vest. In the event of non-compliance with these instructions, a letter is sent to the families to remind them that, by the regulations, their child is exposed to sanctions, which can range from a warning to temporary or even definitive exclusion depending on the situation. the criteria of seriousness and recurrence”.
