Mayor of Lipetsk issued an “ice” decree

From November 23 to April 2021, during the formation and melting of ice, it prohibits going out on water bodies.

The tragic incidents on the first thin ice that have already happened this year in the region prompted the Lipetsk authorities to take active action. The head of the city, Evgenia Uvarkina, signed a decree to restrict access to the ice cover of water bodies on the territory of the regional center from November 23 to April 2021 during the formation and melting of ice.

The press service of the mayor’s office noted that several instructions in the document were also given to municipal services, in particular, on the installation of warning shields and safety signs in places of possible mass emergence of people on the ice and access roads leading to them, as well as the organization of broad public awareness.

Water users are advised to ensure the safety of people by current regulations. Heads of organizations of all forms of ownership – to conduct explanatory work with employees in teams.

In connection with the new freeze-up season, rescuers remind the residents of  Lipetsk’s safety rules. You need to know that reservoirs freeze unevenly: first at the coast, in shallow water, in bays protected from the wind, and then in the middle. The weakest spots are at the coastline, at the coastal thickets, at the drains of industrial enterprises, next to gushing springs and streams flowing into the river.

Fishermen should bring a life reflective jacket with them. Parents should pay special attention to children during this period. It is their responsibility to explain to the child that playing and walking on ice, especially away from the coast, is dangerous entertainment. It can end tragically.
