This is mandatory in your car

If you drive a car, moped or motorcycle, you are also obliged to bring a reflective vest.

This injunction introduced back in 2007.

The regulation states that the vest should be used when “vehicles are placed at risk or obstruction to the traffic” and the driver must move out of the car in connection with the placement of warning triangle, changing wheels, mounting chains, securing loads or the like.

Stops in control

The rule also states that the vest in a car should be easily accessible, in practice that you should be able to reach it from the driver’s seat. The door side, center control or glove compartment are the recommended repository for the reflective vest with reflective tape.

Both the police and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration can demand the West if you are stopped in control. However, you will not be charged if it is missing, but you will be given an oral order to obtain one.

But you risk being fined if you do not use a reflective vest with reflective material in a situation where you should. Typically in the case of an accident or puncture, where you have to get out of the car on a busy road. Then good visibility is very important.

Also in other countries

The reflective vest is also a separate item for periodic vehicle inspection, popularly known as EU inspection. If the vest is missing when the car is checked, it will be defective. But this is not considered so serious that the car will be rejected.

The reflective vest also required in foreign cars driving in Norway. There is also mandatory reflective vest in cars in countries such as Austria, Spain, Italy, and Portugal.
