New amendments to the reflective vests

New amendments to the reflective vests

Today, we’ll look at the edits of March 18, which explain what kind of reflective vests for drivers should be when they should be worn and whether the driver is fined for their absence. The presence of reflective clothing from drivers and other road users has been mentioned more than once. At this time, the law clearly states that the driver must wear vests, jackets, and capes with reflective tapes when leaving the car on the roadway. These clothes, without fail, must comply with GOST 12.4.281-2014.

Where and when to wear reflective clothing?

Reflective clothing includes vests, capes, and jackets with retro-reflective elements, that is, horizontal stripes. It should be worn in the dark when visibility on the road is significantly reduced. It should be noted that this amendment applies only to those motorists who leave the country. In this case, you cannot leave your car without a reflective vest. And so, the Internet portal highlighted for you the main points from the new edits of the traffic rules in 2018, in which case the driver, as well as his passengers, are required to wear reflective clothing (jackets, capes, vests) in the case of an accident and a forced stop; you left the country; got out of the car on the road, on the side of the road (especially if the visibility on the road is very low or the local landscape feature makes you less visible to other cars).

What color should a vest be?

Red;

Orange;

Yellow.

The main thing is not the color, but the fact that the vest complies with GOST 12.4.281-2014. That is, the width of the reflective tapes should be 50 mm, and on the belt and shoulder straps – 30 mm. The number of lanes is also important: there should be two vertical and one – two horizontal. The last strip should be located at a distance of 5 centimeters from the edge of the vest. For the absence of reflective clothing, of course, no one will, although there are a couple of moments when it is quite possible. And remember, wearing a vest, you protect yourself on the roadway.
