The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) delivered thousands of state-of-the-art cooling vests to workers building stadiums for the 2022 World Cup. The cooling vests, which were designed by experts from the British company, reduce the body temperature of a wearer up to 15 ° C. The tests and development carried out over the past year have shown that vests with reflective tapes improve comfort, concentration and the ability to work efficiently in hot weather.

 

The reflective vests are immersed in the water to allow the fabric to absorb as much water as possible. The air flows, like the movement and the wind, then evaporate the water contained in the vests. The greater the flow of air, the more the wearer moves, the more it works.

 

A super absorbent polymer fiber in the jacket fabric holds the water layer for slow evaporation over several hours, providing constant cooling for the user. The wearer stays dry thanks to the quilted layers of absorbent fibers on the outside and the waterproof fabric on the inside.

 

The vest with reflective materials will remain cold for up to eight hours, depending on the environment, and will cool the body temperature of the user up to 15° C.

 

Cooling technology is the latest in a long series of projects undertaken by the Workers’ Welfare Department of the SC to ensure the health and safety of the 30,000 workers currently engaged in its projects. A specially designed hood made from the same material has also been designed to protect workers from dust and heat.
