Since its founding more than 60 years ago, the KVWO has been particularly concerned about the protection of new school children. At the beginning of the school year, all interested elementary schools are equipped in a circle with appropriate free materials to encourage car drivers to take special care and to provide parents with tips for a safe and accident-free way to school. This year the KVWO was a guest at the Wallenberg primary school.

In addition to written information, 950 reflective child safety vests and yellow caps were also handed over to elementary schools this year.

The chairman, Andreas, did not miss the opportunity to hand over the security triangles in person at the Wallenberg primary school on behalf of all elementary schools. In doing so, he expressly pointed out how important these reflective triangles are.

High risk

Especially in the now beginning dark season, the risk that the children would be seen too late by the motorists, particularly high. With the triangles and caps increase the safety. That way, accidents could be avoided. Pedestrians without reflective clothing should be seen at dusk only at a distance of about 80 meters, with the safety vest and triangles, however, already at a distance of 150 meters.

Headmistress Anne Colbert thanked the KVWO for its commitment to the schoolchildren and explained why the school choose the triangles and not the safety vests: “The triangles are cut so that they can be worn over the satchel and not like that vest underneath. “So the children with this reflective materials are also always visible from the rear for the other road users.
