Smart vest or gloves with reflective materials that will also shine to you? This is not a science fiction, but a new kind of safety clothing developed by Czech scientists in Pilsen. Their goal is to increase the safety of all those working in the construction or power sector.

The new generation of innovative clothing is being developed by researchers at the Regional Innovation Center of Electrical Engineering (RICE) at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, West Bohemian University. These include a safety vest with light-guide fibers and LEDs for solar energy. “Outside the reach of sunlight, it will last about 20 hours,” said one of the researchers, Rader. A similar system has also been used for work gloves. They have light in their fingers and can be used to illuminate from below. Another prototype developed are shoes that have three electrodes in the sole. The user will warn of a dangerous level of stepping voltage, for example in the vicinity of the ground of the dropped high voltage wires.
