On Friday, from the early morning hours, police activities under the slogan “Pedestrian” are under way on roads across Poland. Road traffic officers in a larger number are also present on many streets of the Tri-City and the surrounding area.
Walking and motorized patrols serve in places of heavy traffic and the main communication routes. The main objective of the activities is to ensure safety and order on national, provincial, podia and commune roads, especially those where serious accidents occurred. The action was aimed at revealing offenses committed by drivers towards pedestrians, as well as by pedestrians themselves.
Police officers announce that there will be no reduced fare for drivers who break traffic regulations and do not follow signs.
After dark, on an unlit street, in a dark jacket or coat, walking is very poorly visible. The driver of the car notices such person from about 20-30 meters. This distance is five times greater when the pedestrian has reflective materials on the reflective vest. Then it is visible even from a distance of 150 meters.
The provision of road traffic law obliges the pedestrian, who moves along the road after dark outside the built-up area, to use reflective safety vests in a visible way for other road users. An exception is when a person moves on a road intended only for pedestrians or on the sidewalk.
