The number of people hit by cars on the roads is rising

Drivers in the dark do not always need to respond to an unmarked person in time, most of them are not wearing reflective vest. He suffered heavy injuries on Tuesday in a collision with a personal car rider in the center of Teplice. The accident happened at eight o’clock in the evening at the junction streets. If there was a collision under street lighting, the question arises whether the driver and the cyclist have seen each other.

THE NUMS ARE DRAMATICALLY UP

“The causes of the accident are being investigated by traffic police. An injured cyclist took the ambulance to the hospital. After treatment, he was released into home treatment, “said police spokesman Daniel. It is the accident of cyclists and pedestrians, who every year perform a lot of traffic accident statistics. The numbers of people hit by cars have increased dramatically in recent years.

From January to the end of September, there were 46 cases in the Labem region during night hours, at dawn or at dusk to encounter pedestrians. Four times, it ended tragically. According to experts, it may be early twilight, fog, and mild weather and, finally yet importantly, pedestrians and cyclists are not wearing reflective elements.

“Risk places are primarily roads at large companies where the shift is working,” says police officer Daniel. Such areas include the industrial zone of Krupuk in Teplice. Especially on the busy roads between the industrial companies and the village of Service are employees. “It is better to get bus connections from Serbia,” says Lukas from Teplice.

Recognizes going along the road is sometimes dangerous. Therefore, he also has several reflective elements on his clothes. “But it is also about drivers. Some of them are like fools. Even if you had a light bulb instead of a head, you are coughing, “he growls.

COMBINE THE USE OF REFLEX COMPONENTS

According to him, the pedestrian in the low visibility is legally obliged to wear elements of retro reflective material. “They must be positioned so that they are visible to other road users,” he says. In the past few days, the policemen have been targeting the pedestrians in the gloom. “During the night’s action, police officers approached 27 pedestrians to whom they distributed reflective tapes or vests. The positive news is that almost all of them have already been equipped with reflective elements, “police officer Vita said.

Fines also fell. Traffic policemen caught two people who had violated the law in the past. Despite the warning and even the fine imposed, they moved again on the unlit road again in the evening, without wearing reflexive elements. They both received a fine of 500 crowns, “the police spokesman added. Traffic experts call for the winter season from November to February to be the most critical for pedestrians. This also applies to drivers.

“And it does not have to be just outside the city. Even in urban areas, there are places where there are shadows between the lamps that hide a pedestrian, especially if it is wearing darker clothes. The driver then drives in good faith to see and can not overlook the character at that point. Unfortunately, it is usually not enough to react “says Roman, transport expert. Jan of BESIP, who participated in several police checks within the region, confirms this. “With a reflective element, the pedestrian driver records two hundred meters before he does not see him,” notes the North Bohemian coordinator of the Road Safety Association.
