The head of the Department of Traffic and Roads of Carabineers, General Leonia Vinegars, gave more details on the rule that will make the wearing of high visibility vests inside private vehicles mandatory. Said regulation will be effective as of tomorrow.

“What the decree sought is to make a cultural change in the sense that you have to use it, what is intended is for people to be aware that there is a high risk when they get out of the vehicle,” he said. In this line, detailed that the standard requires that the reflective vest is inside the vehicle and that it is recommended to use also when the driver gets off for any emergency.

“For the obligation of port abroad there must be changes in the traffic law, which the authorities are working on,” he explained. Regarding the purchase of them, recommended that it be in established places and that “I do not have as much certainty about those safety vest that are bought in the streets comply with the required standards.”
