Safety vest for first year of the Heine school

The ADAC, Deutsche Post, “A Heart for Children” and the VDA will be taking part in the fifth round with the start of the new school year. This year, 750,000 schoolchildren will receive the yellow safety vest at some 16,200 primary schools. More than 16,500 copies are distributed in Thuringia alone.

The Heinrich Heine School in Jena is one of over 400 participating schools in the state. The Thuringia Minister of Education, Christophe Mantachie, headmaster Karin Arnold and Matthias, chairman of the ADAC Hessen-Thüringen, handed over the 95 first-graders to the West.

Safety through visibility: The yellow vests are a sight for any driver. Safety through visibility: The yellow reflective vests are a sight for any driver.

Particularly in the dark season young traffic people are often overlooked. Last year, 56 children were trapped on their way to school in Thuringia. Reflectors and signal colors increase visibility and reduce the risk of accidents. A child in dark clothes recognizes a car driver only 25 meters away, with safety vest already from 150 meters. Felts emphasizes: “School beginners are not traffic experts. Their best protection is to be seen. With the West the children fall directly into the eye of the car drivers. Tragic accidents can thus be avoided. ”

In order for the ABC riflemen to come safely to the goal, it is for adults to act as good role models. Mashie explains: “Our ABC shooters should have a safe school path. The luminous safety high visibility vests are a valuable support. They help ensure that the students come safely to school and back home. In addition, drivers should drive particularly carefully around schools. Everyone bears responsibility when it comes to the best protection for our children.
