Wear safety vest better on the road

With their neon yellow vest, donated by the ADAC, the first years of the Gerhard School are already visible from a distance.

This year, the Gerhard School is participating in the ADAC Security Action 2017 alongside other schools in the district. “For your children, it is very important to be better seen in the dark,” said Lord Mayor Andreas Feller, the 42 school-leavers of classes 1a and 1b, and pointed out that the employees of the building yard were also wearing safety vests.

Christian Guider, the first chairman of the motorsport club in the ADAC, had brought the safety reflective vest for all of them. Director Sandra Dirndl, teachers Monika Exchanger, Kath Schmidt, Lisa Walkman and school attendant Alexander Eckert helped the enthusiastic first-graders to create the safety vestures on which “Felix” and “Frieda”, the traffic detectives, illuminate as reflectors.

Simply worn over the clothes, they look not only great. They also make the small pupils clearly visible at great distances in the dark. The vest is neon yellow, brightly lit, without advertising, with a conspicuous hood and so long that it looks like it is worn under the shoulder bag.

The safety vest is a great plus for avoiding road accidents. Not only on foot, but also in cycling, it should not be forgotten. Due to their smaller body size, a smaller field of view, weaker orientation and a longer reaction time in road traffic, children are more vulnerable to other road users. This is why the message of the ADAC representative is of the utmost importance: Naturally every day!
