Pedestrians without reflector are already fined by police

Meanwhile, it mostly ended with lessons and donated reflective tapes when policemen caught the pedestrians outside the village on an unlit road without being seen. The duty to use luminous elements has been in force since February, and the hitherto forgiving police have proceeded with fines for the fall.

According to a poll of the Law between individual regions, financial punishment for hundreds of people has hit the wallet.

For a visitation offense, a fine of up to CZK 2,000 may be imposed on the spot, in administrative proceedings up to CZK 2,500. Policemen give away the notes mostly in the hundredth crown.

In addition to November’s nationwide police action, there are also local controls in individual regions. For example, according to police spokesman Jixi, dozens of fines have fallen, mostly to five hundred.

Policemen are the invisible pedestrians on their heels especially early in the morning and in the early evening. However, the obligation to wear reflective vest also affects the hours of the day when unfavorable weather, for example in snow and in the dark.

Police officers also give out the caps

“While patrols have seen some improvement in meeting this obligation, there are still enough people who underestimate the risk,” said South Moravian police spokesman Panel, who also talks about dozens of fines.

In the Moravian-Silesian region, police have stepped up patrols for pedestrians since mid-October. “We recorded 533 pedestrian misdemeanors, most of them in Ostrava, and 416 in total,” said regional police spokesman Lena. Another security action is planned for this week. “The police will be giving out new reflexive elements such as striped caps, dog collars, lanterns and pendants,” she added.

We recognize the quality element according to the fact that the manufacturer declares the compliance with the standard, whether it is EN 13356, EN 471 or the new EN 20471. This ensures that it has adequate reflection.

According to the transport expert Romano of the non-profit company Road Safety Team, unmarked people exhibit, in addition to endangering their own lives, the risk that they will have to pay for the accident they cause their invisibility or the cost of treating the injured. In such cases, the court decides.

In October, 18 pedestrians died, mostly due to the fact that they were not well visible on the road. The Road Traffic Act requires pedestrians to have at least one reflection element, but experts recommend two or more.

The Buddhist advises to place the luminous tapes above the ankle and wrists. “The limbs are parts of the body that move, so the tape is not only shining. The driver records the pedestrian in that case from three times the distance, “he told Provo.

European standard and yellow color

Prices of tapes are in the order of tens of crowns, and consumer tests have shown that there are significant differences between them in terms of effect.

Based on the BESIP head, Martin, the product designation is based on its back according to the European standard. “We recognize the quality of the element according to whether the manufacturer declares the performance of the standard, EN 13356, EN 471, or new EN 20471. This guarantees that it will have adequate reflectivity,” he told Provo.

Experts also recommend a yellow color with a green touch, or bright green, orange or blue. White and silver are also suitable, but these colors can sometimes blend with the lines on the road.

The driver records the shining pedestrian according to the BESIP survey from a distance of two hundred meters, which significantly increases the chances of a possible evasive maneuver. Without the reflective element, this is, of course, the worst man in dark clothes, for example in blue color is only seen at 18 meters, which is the distance where the driver is enough to just record.
