Safety vest keep children’s security

About twenty parents of pupils donned their yellow safety vest in the cool morning morning on Wednesday 14 December. They were in front of the entrance of the nursery and elementary schools of Sources to protest against the glaring insecurity near the establishments. A few meters from them, the works, which will give a new face to the city center, began a few days ago.

No lighting and lack of protection

To join their class, the children must take a small path along the site. “They are not safe, despairs Sandy Tensi, mother of three children in schools and a member of the parents’ association. The excavators work just next to the playground. Mud and pebbles have managed to get in! In addition, the public lighting was removed to allow the work to begin. “In the evening it is dark early, and we have to walk on this path where the holes are numerous,” comments another mother. The mistresses must distinguish us from afar, in the dim light, so that our children in safety reflective vest can go out. “The only exit also raises a concern in the event of an incident in the school, or as part of the Vigipirate plan.

A door that does not close and the children are outside

The big problem is precisely in terms of security. At first, the pupils had to return to the schools, during the time of the works, by an adjacent portal … which did not lock. “Children were found outside school,” continues Sandy. At this age, they are not aware of the danger; we must not wait for an accident to happen. The problem was finally resolved on Thursday 15 December…

The academic inspector in safety clothing came to the institutions to try to understand the situation. And his recommendations are simple: obligation for the site manager to close the approaches to schools by the beginning of January, otherwise the work will be stopped. Open to discussion, the site manager will also try to stop the machines during the hours of entry and exit in the establishment, and to shift the activity on the site during the nap hours of the children.
