Motorcycles, scooters: Mandatory gloves with reflective tape

Recent events unfortunately full of accidents, often fatal, on the Polynesian roads. In mainland France, it is the new rules applied to all bikers and motorbike drivers in safety vest that make the headlines.

 

From 20 November, whether one is riding a motorcycle, scooter or any other gear with three or four wheels, without roll bar and belt, it will be mandatory to wear gloves, although the thermometer reads 40 ° C during the hot days.

 

Without this equipment certified to European standards, the driver and passenger in that are not equipped, could be fined by the police of a fine equivalent to 8000 F. Owning a yellow vest to wear in case emergency will also become compulsory next month. If the yellow reflective vest is not mandatory except in cars, it is only recommended for motorbike drivers. It’s the same for gloves, the port is just highly recommended.

 

Tee-shirt, short and savates

Since April 1, 2014, children under twelve years of age must be covered: long sleeves, pants and closed shoes. “The police verbalize when this is not the case” ensures Captain Faure, deputy officer in charge of road safety for the gendarmerie in Polynesia.

 

It intervenes in schools to educate young people and their advocates including wearing gloves “and all the proper attire. Often when we fall, tar against skin, not skin that will win. To avoid, you better be covered. I understand that here the weather conditions are not ideal for wearing a jacket tightly closed. But at present, there are jackets that make ventilated, when driving; we did not as hot as that. Besides, the motorcyclists of the gendarmerie now wear such jackets. ”

 

Currently, the Polynesian so bikers can ride in a T-shirt with reflective tape, shorts and slippers, to the detriment of their security. For children under twelve years, however, the fine is 4150 F. Only helmets with European standards are mandatory for adults. In case of violation, the fine is 16 100 F.
