Road safety: FMWC not support mandatory yellow vest

The National Road Safety Council (NSRF) has recommended to the government two measures concerning motorcycles, on 21 June in Paris. Wearing a safety vest is not mandatory driving, but in case of unexpected shutdown, or car. The FFMC is opposed.

Surprisingly observers, on 21 June in Paris, at the announcement of the measures the National Road Safety Council (NSRF) recommend the government: wearing a yellow vest motorcycle becomes mandatory, not to move, but to be used in case of emergency stop. The problem lies in the concept of obligation while, so far, this measure should not be incited. FMWC proves unfavorable to this recommendation, which is as follows:

By equity among users of motorized land vehicles, compulsory wearing a high visibility vest in case of emergency stop.

Spend the contravention of 4th category to category 2.

Make it compulsory for all two-wheelers (2WD) and 3-wheelers (3RM) newly entering the vehicle registration system (SIV), the installation of a license plate from one format single (210×130 mm). This format already exists since the decree of 2009.

“Side 2-wheeled, one retains the obligation for 2WD drivers to hold a fluorescent jacket (without permanent port) as well as motorists and subject to a reduction of the penalty previously disproportionate” says Federation French bikers angry (FFMC), a member of the 2-wheeled commission of the NSRF. “The FFMC remains opposed to this measure whose effectiveness remains un-provable by the Department of Safety and Road Traffic (DSCR) in terms of gains of lives”.

This writes, between mandatory reflective vest worn continuously, which threatened to fall on us in 2011, which eventually became cuff and which was repealed in late 2012, the NSRF has returned to a simple measure of equity among road users (detention for the port if required).

“With this and the harmonization of sizes 4 sizes of existing plates (for bicycles, motorcycles and tricycles), a median size that mostly used today on motorcycles, the NSRF finally turns the page inter ministerial Council for road safety (IRB) in May 2011 which brought together against him to all road users associations ” , continues the FFMC.

“The issue of infrastructure, crucial for sensitive users, died on one and the request of the initiation of the experiment of legalizing the movement between queues by motorcycles and scooters suggests an early breakthrough, still shy of taking into account the specificities of 2WD”, say Motorcyclists in Anger.

“This conditional legalization would teach and regulate this practice, also little accident-prone. Nevertheless, and after these figures imposed by the roadmap of the NSRF, the FFMC continue obstinate, participate and defend without corporatism but with tenacity, instead of 2WD in matters oh so current mobility ” .

NSRF these proposals must now be translated into regulatory text by the government. The Interior Minister, present on 21 June in Paris, gave no date for a future inter-ministerial committee on road safety. For now, wearing the yellow vest on the bike is not compulsory.
