“Be Safe On The Road” preventive event

In cooperation with the educational institutions of Utena city and district, the Lithuanian Road Administration organized a preventive event for students “Be safe on the road” in Utena, near the multifunctional sports center.

 

The purpose of the event is to familiarize students with the rules of the road to keep students safe on the street, protecting themselves and their friends.

 

During the preventive event, teams of students had to take part in the theoretical part, gain knowledge of traffic safety, familiarize themselves with the requirements of the road traffic regulations, and apply the acquired knowledge to practical tasks.

 

Daiva Maselskienė, a community official at Utena County Police Headquarters, introduced children to pedestrian duties, the responsibility of properly wearing reflective vests, how pedestrians should behave in the street, and how to be exemplary road users.

 

Paul Keturka, commander of the Road Patrol Unit of the Road Police Division of the Utena County Police Headquarters, presented the police vehicle and its equipment. Described how traffic police ensure safe traffic on the roads. The students were introduced to the requirements of the road traffic regulations for motorcycle and ATV drivers. Children should be made aware of the importance of wearing seat belts while driving a vehicle. Police have encouraged young road users to be responsible road users, to comply with, comply with, and comply with, road traffic regulations, to take civic attention to drivers, whether they are driving while under the influence of alcohol or other psychoactive substances. Notify the police by calling the emergency number 112 if you notice a driver’s offense.

 

Sandra Dindaitė, a spokeswoman for the Lithuanian Road Administration, introduced to the student teams the requirements of road traffic regulations for cyclists on how to safely and responsibly ride their bikes in designated areas.

 

Dalia Vanagienė, a children’s and youth health care specialist, used visual aids to show children how to provide first aid on the road.

 

After hearing the theoretical knowledge, the students had to apply it in practical tasks. Student teams demonstrated how to properly use reflective materials, told pedestrians, cyclists, had to recognize and present road signs and provided first aid to the injured person on the road. Also solving rebus, puzzling, answering questions in myth or truth, creating quadruple – related to traffic rules, traffic safety requirements.

At the end of the event, student teams were awarded prizes for their cool performances.

 

We hope that the knowledge gained by the students on safe traffic during the event will be useful for them in their daily lives. Students will protect themselves and their friends on the road, be disciplined and responsible road users, adhere to road traffic regulations, do not violate them, and set a positive example for their peers.
