To Europe by car. Traffic rules you didn’t know about

It’s no secret that road trips to neighboring countries, with the introduction of biometric passports, have become much more common. It’s cheaper and, for many, more convenient than flying on a plane.

For a family trip to Europe to go without excesses, it is important to understand what is the fundamental difference in the traffic rules of Ukraine and other countries.

We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the main differences to be alert.

Which side to go.

There are not many European countries in which motorists are moving on the left side – Britain, Ireland, and Malta. If you are heading to one of these countries, then this moment should be taken into account, as you can, out of habit, get into an accident.

Spend penalties.

In almost all European countries, the speed requirements are identical. Speed limits within the settlement average 50-60 km / h, in the city – 85-90 km / h, on highways – about 120 km / h (on some toll roads – up to 150 km / h). The amount of material recovery depends on the speed at which you were traveling: higher than the higher, the more serious the fine.

The presence of reflective vests.

Every car owner in Europe is required to have a reflective vest with reflective tape in his car. They should always be worn when leaving the roadside or driveway. Otherwise, you will have to pay the blood money.

Anti-radars and fog lights.

The inclusion of anti-radar and fog lights in good weather is forbidden and will result in a fine (on average, between 20 and 60 euros).

Talking on the phone.

Talking on the phone by European legislation is strictly forbidden. The only exceptions are hands-free calls. Most recently, special road signs have been created to help identify violators with a Smartphone by detecting radio signals.

In any case, do not be lazy by car before traveling to Europe and study the traffic rules of the country to which you are heading. This will save you many problems and unnecessary costs.
