Reflective vest in France from now on mandatory

Reflective-vest-in-France

From 1 January 2016, it is also mandatory in France for the driver and passenger to have a CE-homologated reflective vest (sewn-in reflective tapes) with them. It is also mandatory to use this as a motorcyclist or driver of a tricycle if you come to a halt outside the built-up area with a not working motorcycle/tricycle or an emergency stop for another reason.

The penalty for not having a fluorescent reflective vest is certainly not high at € 38, but an emergency stop can cause even more costs; in the case of not having the reflective safety vest at hand, the fine – as extra bad luck – can reach up to 750 Euros! Incidentally, this rule also applies to cyclists and drivers of a wheelchair. For cars, the well-known warning triangle and an alcohol test are added, but the latter two do not apply to motorcyclists.
