Operations will be intensified on all roads for the road safety in the country. During Holy Week, the mobilization of more than two million vehicles is expected throughout the country, and the Ministry of Transport is betting on reducing accidents.

Minister Cardona said that “there will be a tough hand against the infringing drivers.” The lack of compulsory insurance (SOAT) is the biggest concern “and there will be no contemplation with who does not carry it.” The goal of the Highway Police is to reduce deaths due to traffic accidents. The road equipment (spare tire, cat, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, banderoles, emergency lights, reflective vest and others) is vital.

Last year, 206 accidents occurred in the departments of the Caribbean Region.

There were 28 people killed and 278 injured, said Brigadier General Ramiro Castillo, Director of Traffic and Transportation of the National Police. The restrictions for heavy traffic will be in some roads in Colombia, including the Valle del Cauca.

To avoid accidents and groundings, not only are the authorities operating, the drivers themselves must take measures. They should be checked: tire wear, safety vest, safety elements such as lights and mirrors, check the electrical system, starting with the battery. From Cali, more than 100,000 vehicles will go to nearby cities, one of them Popayan, the rest of the south of the country and the Coffee Region.
