Children got reflective vests for safety

Police officers from the police station in Kuna, firefighters OSP and the head of the Commune Anna met with the first graders from Gorki to talk about road safety. All children got reflective vests funded by the Commune. Such actions are not so much fun, they are very much needed, said the director of the School and Pre-school Complex. Recently, the amended road traffic regulations have been in force, which impose on all pedestrians who, after dark, move on un-built areas, the obligation to use reflective elements. This is to improve road safety.

Equipping students with reflective vests is not a new idea in the commune. In previous years, they were sent to the students of the older classes, this year we decided to give them to the first graders. Every child should have such a reflective element, it is a matter of security, and the best, most visible is the safety vest – said the Head of the Commune Nada Anna. Until now, using reflectors for pedestrians traveling by the side of the road was only mandatory for children up to 15 years old. Now this obligation covers all pedestrians moving along the side of the road in an undeveloped area. When it gets dark, each one should be equipped with any reflective element, so that it is clearly visible to the driver.

About safety on the road and not only children told police from the police station. The mascot of the command visited the school. – It is important that children understand that reflections are important. The new rules are not just another requirement that needs to be met. Reflectors realistically increase safety, because they make you visible on the road, that the driver can respond quickly enough – said Rolla, district police station. The pedestrian, who moves after dark without reflection, the driver can see from a distance of only 20 meters. Visible reflections increase this distance to over 150 meters.

A great attraction for children was the show that firefighters OSP from Nada prepared. The students could see, among others is the equipment cutting the car’s body used in road rescue, when the injured are stuck in the car. Each student could also see what a fire truck looks like inside. – The kids see the firehouse, but rarely have the opportunity to meet with firefighters, see the equipment they use to save human life – said Lessen Pietas, the chair of the Board of the District Department of the OSP Association. Anyway, from an early age, children should be equipped with knowledge about firefighting, safety, help people – he added.

We had a lot of happiness and joy – admitted the mature little Mama from the first class. Many interesting things we learned today! “Well, for example, how to cross the road,” Maya said quickly. In addition, thanks to these vests we will not get lost, because we will be clearly visible! – said the girl. “And the driver can see us quickly,” Kevin added. Reflective vests with the coat of arms will get the first from the schools.
