In some media, the interpretation arose that the police could not split those who do not use the garment when getting out of the car.
From January 1, 2016, all cars in Chile must have a reflective vest in an accessible place, which must be use when getting off the car in any emergency. In case of not doing so, Carabineers could fine the driver.
This Friday, however, the newspaper El Mercuric published an interpretation that said you could, indeed, take an offense for not wearing the safety garment, but not for not using it when getting off the car.
In talk with DNA, Carabineers clarified the issue. “The use is both the bearing and the use of the vest, it can be split whether the vest is not in the car in an accessible place or if the person gets out of the vehicle without using it,” said Major Juan Rodriguez in yellow vest.
Rodriguez added that there will be a white march, but it does not known how long it will last. The part will be about 21 thousand pesos.
