Test for reflective running gloves

Days are shortened by leaps and bounds and the “see and be seen” motto is becoming more and more important. Whether we want it or not, the dark season is traversing our lives. In order to increase their safety and at the same time make it easier for them to get rid of the dazzling drivers of bigger or smaller motor vehicles, we also put on reflections. Today it will be a reflective glove from Decathlon.

With these gloves, you actually get two flies out of the table under the carpet with one blow. Since, as well as the exposure time, temperatures fall too low, you will appreciate the thermal insulation during the early morning or evening excursions. Glove cloth is a mixture of polyester, polyurethane and eglantine, and is perfectly suited to near-zero temperatures. The second thing is the safety mentioned – the entire back of the glove is squeezed from the reflective substance.

How to survive?

Experts on survival in a variety of situations have three main principles to attract attention when, for example, you want to notice the rescuers in the mountains, in the woods, in the desert, etc: 1) contrast 2) movement 3) unusual (size, contextual, Line, etc.). The glove manufacturer is probably inspired. After all, let’s admit that we too want to survive on this road.

And it works very well. The driver of the shining car in the dark, first of all, sees two relatively large, distinctive reflection points from afar. Of course, they are constantly moving in the course of a relatively large scale. We mostly do not wear handgrips, so we have some unusual achievements. The driver is busy, you have his attention. It does not get so much on the gas; it traverses you around and looks curiously at what’s on the road today.

As a result, gloves are a strong safety feature in your gear. In addition to the thumbs, all the fingers are covered with a shimmering yellow cloth, so a certain (albeit relatively small) safety benefit can wear gloves even during the day.

The cut is simple and uncomplicated. The back of the glove is made up of two completely reflective fabric parts. The palm side is made from a fabric that allows you to operate the touch screen of your phone or tablet. It works quite well, but not entirely 100%. Sometimes the “touch” should be repeated from a slightly different angle, but after training when the gloves are swept, it is a bit worse, the back of the glove is made up of a micro fleece to improve the thermal insulation, and the gloves are finished with a sufficiently wide elastic cuff.

Cut, do not cut?

The gloves have a loop in the shop inside. They hung on it in the sales package, and I still have not decided whether to cut the loops or not. Surprisingly, they do not interfere as much as I was initially afraid of. They can be used for hanging when drying, whether after training or after washing. Leaving them gently out will also make it quick to put on gloves. Alternatively, you can pin them to a keyhole with keys and the like.

Overall, I evaluate gloves with reflective material positively. They are warm enough and greatly improve the visibility of the runner in the dark. The controllability of touch screens might, however, be better. I missed only one thing, at least a small surface on the back or a towel with a terry or the like, in which I could wipe the sweat flowing into my eyes. When counting all for and against the price will still be quite favorable.
