The Ministries of Public Works and Transport, together with the Chilean Safety Association, delivered Tuesday in the sector Temuco station reflective vests to prevent accidents on rural and urban roads.

 

A massive delivery of reflective vests made this morning SEREMIS Works Public and Transport by the Chilean Safety Association, in a road safety campaign aimed at cyclists, pedestrians and drivers of vehicles to animal traction, calling users to travel responsibly by the way, and avoid accidents.

 

The reflective jacket allows drivers to forewarn the presence of pedestrians, cyclists or other means of transport, which can react in time, and thus avoid any kind of accident, said the SEREMI Transport Luis Calderon.

 

MOP authority said that accidents on rural roads have a high fatality rate, which reaches 85%. This is mainly due to the high speed at which the vehicles for rural areas.

 

Many of these accidents are caused by cyclists, pedestrians and carts that do not take appropriate safety measures, such as using safety vests or belts, warning lights also adds that many cyclists and pedestrians cross by improper places.
