Inspections reduced vehicle theft in Canelones

As we all known, safety vest is an important security equipment when riding motorcycle. But many riders didn’t pay much more attention to it.
Police pulled from circulation more than 700 bikes without reflective tape showed irregularities in the department of Canelones, which has reduced the number of stolen vehicles.
Police Chief Canelones, Commissioner Mayor (R) Ricardo Perez said that during January 83 controls that resulted in “a drop in thefts of cars and motorcycles” were made. This month were stolen 165 vehicles (cars and motorcycles), while in the same period last year the figure was 204.
The operating “Aruera” has totaled 879 motorcycles inspected and 16 seized by anomalies such as circulation without title documents, the mismatch and deleting the numbering of engine and chassis, driving without a book, not wearing a helmet or protective or reflective vest, according the Interior Ministry reported.
Perez added that “as many vehicles stolen in the department is mainly in the areas of Las Piedras, La Paz, El Pinar, Shangrilá, Pando and Barros Blancos”.
Since the operation “Aruera” Interior Ministry was implemented in March 2015, more than 13,000 motorcycles were inspected and 785 were seized in Canelones.
