Safety Tips for Halloween night

Halloween is a night of fun for thousands of ghosts and goblins throughout Connecticut. Thinking about their safety, the Connecticut State Police wearing safety vest has some tips for maintaining the security of the youngest residents of our state during the night of 31 October.

 

Children and parents are urged to follow these instructions for an exciting night of trick or treating:

  1. Wear bright or reflective clothing so drivers can see their colors. Add reflective tape to the candy bags for greater visibility.
  2. Carry a flashlight to be seen when you are walking.
  3. be careful when visiting homes. Be alert for objects or toys on the sidewalks or driveways.
  4. Never enter a home or someone’s car for a treat.
  5. Whenever I go “trick-or-treating” in a group that includes adults; never alone.
  6. Do not eat any treats until they get home and their parents to inspect all candy.
  7. Just pick up sweets in places and people that are known.
  8. Always be aware and see if there are cars when crossing from house to house.
  9. Do not use a mask that hinders vision in any way.

 

Before Halloween night, you are advised residents to withdraw from the platforms all obstacles that may hinder the visit of young people dressed. Parents should inspect all candy collected by their children and discard anything that perishes not is fit for consumption as unwrapped, partially opened, discolored or unknown treats.

I urge all Connecticut residents to obey all traffic laws not only Halloween but every day. This is a night of fun and scary, but safety comes first, “said Colonel.
