Volunteers distribute lighting kits to badly lit cyclists in Brussels and Wallonia. Those who are properly equipped will be rewarded &#8230; they will receive chocolates.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This year we have placed greater emphasis on prevention, we will hand out safety vest and other <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chinareflective.com\"><strong><em>reflective material<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, says Aurelia Williams, secretary general of GRACQ. These field actions take place after a fortnight&#8217;s awareness: information messages were broadcast and widely reported by our partners. &#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A useful campaign<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The numbers speak for themselves: since the first edition of our campaign in 2008 shows that the proportion of cyclists with a lighting order is on the increase &#8230; This demonstrates the relevance of this annual campaign awareness!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to figures from the Observatory bike in the Brussels-Capital Region, in 2014, 70% in fact there are cycling properly equipped against 58% in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>The proportion of circulating cyclists without lights fell 22% to 13%.<\/p>\n<p>Also according to the statistics, wearing <strong><em>reflective vest<\/em><\/strong>, although not mandatory, is also more common. 57% of bikers use it against 43% previously.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The campaign &#8220;Be Brilliant&#8221; is therefore available to 30% of cyclists who still circulate or without lighting or with inadequate lighting, inconsistent with the rules of the road.
